What would your album look like?

February 25, 2009 · 2 Comments

What would your own album look like if you were in a band? Follow the directions below and find out:

1 – Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random… Read More”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 – Go to Quotations Page and select “random quotations”
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3 – Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 – Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

Here’s what came out for me:

Thanks to Tanja for showing me this nice little game! ;-)

Comparisons

January 12, 2009 · 1 Comment

Today I got to know that an art lover who has seen my painting “Verheerung” (Devastation) in Jena/Germany has compared my style of painting with the abstract paintings of Gerhard Richter.

To be honest I’ve never studied Richter’s paintings closely before this comment. But now that I’ve had a look at his abstracts I do indeed see similarities.

I never paint with someone else’s art in mind though. As already mentioned here, my artistic expression is a totally spontaneous one and results from an inner urgency to be creative. But dear M.P.: thanks for the comparison anyway. ;-)

And for those who don’t know my above mentioned paining yet:

Sold and ordered artwork

November 13, 2008 · 4 Comments

As some of you might already know, some of my artwork has been sold or even been ordered. Some of my artwork has travelled a long way (in distance and one also in time) to find their place at a new owner. So I thought I’d make a list of what is where now:

The first painting I have sold was the second acrylic painting I have ever made! An American friend asked me if she could buy it before it was even dry! It’s now hanging in Maryland, USA.

Two of my early paintings are decorating my husband’s office since 2006 now. That’s “Sonne” (which was an experiment with paper) and “Solidarität” (which he ordered like that). “Solidarität” includes excerpts of the social law which is one of the things my husband works with every day.

Then an English friend asked me if she could buy my “blue series”. So these four little paintings went to Cornwall/UK. The same friend also asked me if I could make a portrait drawing of her baby daughter which of course I gladly did.

Another experiment with paper (and one of my favourite pieces) is the painting “Paar”. It was ordered by my parents-in-law in 2006 to fit in the place where it is hanging now. When they later saw my “Welt von oben” series, they asked me to hang them in the same room.

My painting “Herbst” went to Vienna/Austria as a thank you for a friend. Then another Austrian friend who is blind ordered a “feel painting” from me. This was a challenge but thanks to different material textures it became a success!

When an Irish friend of mine travelled through Peru in 2006 he made a photo in the town Arequipa that inspired me because of the intense colors. I made a painting of it and it is now hanging in Cork/Ireland.

The painting with the longest travelling story was definitely the one ordered by my friend Timo! While the one that had gone to the US had taken less than a week to arrive at its new owner, this one almost got lost in christmas post delivery… and this inside of Germany! But finally the painting arrived safely in Weimar and has now moved to Nürnberg with its owners.

A myspace friend from Italy asked me to make a painting similar to one I didn’t want to sell to be used as cd-cover for his next jazz-cd. That’s why it got the name “Rob’s disc”. He even came here by car to get it personally!

If you are looking for a painting  too or if you’d like me to make one for you, just contact me!

I’m looking forward to new inspirations! ;-)

Die ersten Lebkuchen

November 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Jetzt kann Weihnachten kommen! :)

New painting

October 3, 2008 · 18 Comments

Finally it got me again: after long months of lack of inspitarion I woke up this morning with the urgent need to PAINT! YEAH!

About two hours later this 1mx2m painting was finished. But we cannot decide which way to hang it.

This way (version one)?

Or that way (version two)?

So far we couldn’t find a title for it either…

How would you call it?
And which way would you hang it? Version one or two?
