Suomi forever!

October 26, 2009 · 2 Comments

There is this really hilarious sketch of German comedian Hape Kerkeling about Finish Eurovision songs (even if you don’t understand German it’s still great!). I always thought he had made up the songs but…

…BUT! These songs really exist!

Song no.1 was performed in 1988 by “Boulevard”:

Song no.2 was performed by Fredi (!) in 1976! And I can’t say which is more funny – Hape Kerkeling or the original:

New Moon – Kinostart vorverlegt!

October 15, 2009 · 2 Comments

Videos from the nephews

July 7, 2009 · 1 Comment

Here are two videos I made from our nephews. So here is Samuel (7 months old) speaking his mind on a hot and humid summer day:

And here comes his brother Lorenz (3.5 years)  with his new bubble pipe
(but somehow the camera is more interesting):

Santana: Smooth

June 11, 2009 · 1 Comment

Accidentally stumbled across this song again today on tv and remembered the great times I had while living in Speyer when the “Supernatural” album of Santana was all new. We played this song on and on in the bar and club that was part of the house I lived in by then. Here it is: Enjoy!

a-ha: “Foot of the mountain”

June 6, 2009 · 9 Comments

Couldn’t be long before the video would appear on YouTube:

Before it was broadcasted on Viva last night, it had been already online on the Viva-website but apparently only visible to users with a German ip (which imho wasn’t fair). That’s why I had made some Screenshots for the fans I know abroad.

The video seems to relate to “Hunting High and Low” in a few camera perspectives and the idea of the floating bubbles…

a-ha7

… reminded me of the moving ray of light in “Analogue”.

I only wonder what the bubbles and especially huge bubble at the end of the video are meant to symbolize.

Any ideas out there?

Justin Currie in his own words

May 20, 2009 · 1 Comment

After Werder Bremen losing the final of Uefa-cup today there was one song immediately coming up in my head: “Make it always be too late” by Del Amitri performed live by Justin Currie. So browsing through related videos on YouTube I stumbled upon this interview (2 parts – as part 3 didn’t load) with Justin – who imho is one of the (as he’d most probably add) “fucking” great musicians ever:

They’ve done it again

Here’s a new flashmob video by t-mobile. While last time people had gathered for dancing, this time they came together to sing a huge karaoke! Great stuff! :-)

If you’re in or near Bonn and would like to take part in a flashmob too, make sure you read this post! ;-)

Il concerto di Angelo Branduardi

April 25, 2009 · 2 Comments

Angelo Branduardi 1

Here we are back from a gorgeous concert of Angelo Branduardi. He played in the concert hall of the Bonn Brückenforum that is only five minutes walk from where we live.We had already been to one of his concerts there beofre and so we knew it was going to be a great evening.

Our seats were on the right outside but third row, so we could still see quite well. The only problem was the fact that the right front speaker was almost in front of us so the sound got a bit rattling for us sometimes.

In the first part Branduardi – who praised the Germans to be his most understanding and faithful audience – presented songs from his Francesco program (see introduction and  finale) starting and ending this part with “Il Cantico delle Creature”. Here’s a short video I made of this song:

After a short break he started the good old songs that everybody knew. Several of my favourites were played too, like “Vanità di Vanità” or “Ballo in fa diesis minore” (song starts at 5.38 in this video but for those who understand Italian it’s worth to listen to what he tells there too!).

My video of “Alla fiera dell’est”:

Of course il maestro got standing ovations and had to play several encores including “Cercando l’oro” (to make the audience sing along), a wonderfully fragile version of “O sole mio” and “La luna”.

I realised there were some other people taking videos or photos, will have to search the web within the next days ;-)

Grazie per una grandissima sera, Angelo! :-)

Do schools kill creativity?

March 25, 2009 · 1 Comment

Found this video through Andrea and it made me think…What would have become of people I know, what would have become of me, if we hadn’t been in this educative system? Have we preserved our potential? Are we using it now? And what do we teach to our children? Do we help the make the most of their potential?

20 minutes worth watching!

(source: TED, speaker: Sir Ken Robinson)

What do you think about that?
